Warm Apple Fritters

ere’s a homemade version that tastes bakery-style:

🍎 Warm Apple Fritters

Ingredients

For the fritters:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 2 tsp baking powder

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg (optional)

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 2 large eggs

  • 3/4 cup milk

  • 2 tbsp melted butter

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 1/2 cups diced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work great)

  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)

For the glaze:

  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

  • 2–3 tbsp milk

  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

1️⃣ Prepare the batter

  • In a bowl, whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.

  • In another bowl, whisk eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla.

  • Combine wet and dry ingredients just until mixed.

  • Fold in diced apples.

(The batter will be thick and lumpy — that’s perfect.)

2️⃣ Fry

  • Heat 2 inches of oil in a heavy pot to 350°F (175°C).

  • Drop about 1/4 cup batter per fritter into hot oil.

  • Fry 2–3 minutes per side until deep golden brown.

  • Remove and drain on paper towels.

3️⃣ Make glaze

  • Whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.

  • Drizzle or dip warm fritters in glaze.

  • Let sit 5–10 minutes until glaze sets slightly.

✨ Optional Bakery Trick

After frying, place fritters on a rack and bake at 350°F for 5 minutes.
This helps cook the centers fully and gives that bakery texture.
