Ingredients

For the Beef Patties

  • 1½ lbs (680 g) ground beef

  • ½ cup breadcrumbs

  • 1 egg

  • 1 small onion (finely chopped)

  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

For the Gravy

  • 2 cups beef broth

  • 1 packet onion soup mix (or 1 tbsp onion powder + 1 tsp garlic powder)

  • 2 tbsp ketchup

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tbsp cornstarch

  • 2 tbsp water

Extras

  • 1–2 onions sliced (for the bottom of the slow cooker)


👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Prepare the Patties

  1. In a bowl combine:

    • ground beef

    • breadcrumbs

    • egg

    • chopped onion

    • garlic

    • salt & pepper

    • Worcestershire sauce

  2. Mix gently and form 6 oval patties.

2️⃣ Prepare the Slow Cooker

  • Spread sliced onions on the bottom of the slow cooker.

3️⃣ Add the Patties

  • Place the beef patties on top of the onions.

4️⃣ Make the Gravy

In a bowl mix:

  • beef broth

  • onion soup mix

  • ketchup

  • Worcestershire sauce

Pour the gravy mixture over the patties.

5️⃣ Cook

  • LOW: 5–6 hours

  • HIGH: 3–4 hours

6️⃣ Thicken the Gravy

  1. Mix cornstarch + water.

  2. Stir into the slow cooker during the last 20 minutes.

  3. Cook until the gravy thickens.


🍽️ Serve With

  • Mashed potatoes

  • Rice

  • Buttered noodles

  • Steamed vegetables


Tips

  • Brown the patties in a skillet first for extra flavor (optional).

  • Add mushrooms for a classic Salisbury steak twist.

  • Use cream of mushroom soup for an even richer gravy.
