Slow Cooker Cabbage with Bacon

Ingredients

  • 1 large green cabbage, cut into wedges

  • 8 slices bacon, cut into 1–2 inch pieces

  • 1 small onion, chopped

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 cup chicken broth

  • 2 tablespoons butter

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

  • ½ teaspoon paprika

  • ½ teaspoon onion powder (optional)


Instructions

1. Prepare the Cabbage

  • Remove the outer leaves of the cabbage.

  • Cut it into 6–8 wedges, keeping the core so the wedges hold together.

2. Layer the Slow Cooker

  • Place cabbage wedges inside the slow cooker.

  • Sprinkle onion and garlic over the cabbage.

  • Scatter the bacon pieces on top.

3. Add Liquid & Seasoning

  • Pour chicken broth around the cabbage.

  • Add butter pieces on top.

  • Sprinkle salt, pepper, paprika, and onion powder.

4. Cook

  • Cover and cook:

    • Low: 6–7 hours

    • High: 3–4 hours
