Slow Cooker BBQ Brisket 🤠🔥
Fall-apart tender, smoky-sweet, and basically does all the work while you live your life.
Ingredients (serves 6–8)
-
3–4 lb beef brisket (flat or point)
-
1½ cups BBQ sauce (use your favorite)
-
½ cup beef broth or water
-
1 onion, sliced
-
3 cloves garlic, minced
-
2 tbsp brown sugar
-
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
-
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
-
2 tsp smoked paprika
-
1 tsp chili powder
-
1 tsp salt
-
½ tsp black pepper
-
Optional: 1 tsp liquid smoke (a little goes a long way)
Instructions
-
Season the brisket
Pat dry. Rub with salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and chili powder. -
Layer the slow cooker
Add sliced onions to the bottom. Place brisket on top, fat side up if it has one. -
Mix the sauce
In a bowl, whisk BBQ sauce, broth, brown sugar, Worcestershire, vinegar, garlic, and liquid smoke (if using). -
Cook low & slow
Pour sauce over brisket. Cover and cook:-
LOW: 8–10 hours
-
HIGH: 5–6 hours
Until fork-tender.
-
-
Shred or slice
Remove brisket. Let rest 10 minutes, then shred or slice against the grain. -
Finish it right
Skim excess fat from sauce. Return brisket to slow cooker and toss in sauce.
Optional (But Delicious) Finish
-
Broil brisket on a sheet pan with extra BBQ sauce for 5–8 minutes to get caramelized edges 🔥
How to Serve
-
Piled onto buns for BBQ sandwiches
-
With mac & cheese, coleslaw, or cornbread
-
Over mashed potatoes (underrated, trust me)
If you want a Texas-style, sweet & sticky, or no-sauce dry-rub version, say the word—I’ve got you.
