Soft inside, lightly golden crust, and made with just a few pantry ingredients.
📝 Ingredients (1 Loaf)
-
3 cups (375 g) all-purpose flour (plus extra for dusting)
-
1 cup (240 ml) warm water (about 110°F / 43°C)
-
2¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
-
1 tbsp sugar
-
1 tsp salt
-
2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
👩🍳 Instructions
1️⃣ Activate the Yeast
In a bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast.
Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
2️⃣ Make the Dough
Add flour, salt, and oil.
Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
3️⃣ Knead
Turn onto a floured surface and knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
(If sticky, add a little flour—but not too much.)
4️⃣ First Rise
Place in a lightly oiled bowl.
Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
5️⃣ Shape
Punch down dough.
Shape into a loaf and place in a greased 9×5-inch pan.
6️⃣ Second Rise
Cover and let rise again for 30–40 minutes, until puffy.
7️⃣ Bake
Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25–30 minutes.
Top should be golden and sound hollow when tapped.
8️⃣ Cool
Remove from pan and cool completely before slicing.
