🧾 Ingredients

Meat Layer

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • ¼ cup water

Salad Layers

  • 2 cups tortilla chips (lightly crushed)
  • 4 cups chopped lettuce (romaine or iceberg)
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 1 orange or yellow bell pepper, diced
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1–2 avocados, diced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro (optional)

Creamy Dressing

  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ½ cup salsa
  • 1 tbsp taco seasoning

🥣 Instructions

1. Cook the beef

  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned.
  • Drain excess fat.
  • Add taco seasoning and water, stir well, and simmer for 3–5 minutes until thickened.
  • Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

2. Make the dressing

  • In a small bowl, mix together sour cream, salsa, and taco seasoning until smooth.
  • Set aside.

3. Assemble the layers

In a large clear bowl (for best presentation), layer in this order:

  1. Crushed tortilla chips (bottom layer)
  2. Seasoned ground beef
  3. Diced bell peppers
  4. Chopped lettuce
  5. Spread the dressing evenly
  6. Shredded cheddar cheese
  7. Diced avocado
  8. Diced tomatoes on top

4. Chill & serve

  • Refrigerate for 15–30 minutes before serving.
  • Garnish with cilantro if desired.
  • Serve as is (layered) or toss gently before eating.

💡 Tips

  • Add black beans or corn for extra texture.
  • Use ground turkey for a lighter version.
  • Keep chips crunchy by adding them just before serving if making ahead.
  • For extra flavor, squeeze fresh lime juice over the top.
