Salisbury Steak with Mushroom Gravy
Ingredients
For the patties

1 lb ground beef (80/20 is perfect)

1/2 cup breadcrumbs or panko

1 egg
-
1/2 onion, finely diced

2 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
-
1 tsp salt
-
1/2 tsp black pepper
For the gravy
-
2 tbsp butter or oil
-
8 oz mushrooms, sliced
-
1 small onion, sliced
-
2 tbsp flour
-
2 cups beef broth
-
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Salt & pepper to taste
For serving

Mashed potatoes (highly recommended 😌)
Instructions

Make the patties
In a bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, diced onion, garlic, Worcestershire, salt, and pepper.
Form into oval or round patties. -
Prep the baking dish (like the photo)
Scatter a little extra chopped onion in the bottom of a baking dish.
Place patties on top and sprinkle a bit of breadcrumbs over them. -
Bake

Cover with foil

Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25–30 minutes, until patties are mostly cooked

Make the mushroom gravy
In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
Sauté mushrooms and sliced onion until soft and golden.
Sprinkle in flour and cook 1 minute.
Slowly whisk in beef broth and Worcestershire.
Simmer until thick and glossy. -
Combine & finish
Pour gravy over the baked patties.
Return to oven uncovered for 10–15 minutes, letting everything soak together. -
Serve
Spoon those gravy-drenched steaks over mashed potatoes. Add parsley if you’re feeling fancy 🌿
