Neiman Marcus Chocolate Chip Cookies

Neiman Marcus Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed

  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar

  • 1 egg

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1¾ cups all-purpose flour

  • ½ tsp baking soda

  • ½ tsp salt

  • 1½ tsp instant espresso powder (optional but iconic)

  • 1½ cups semisweet chocolate chips

  • 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cream the good stuff
Beat butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

  2. Add wet ingredients
Mix in egg and vanilla until smooth.

  3. Dry ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, salt, and espresso powder.

  4. Combine
Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet until just combined.

  5. Fold in the magic
Stir in chocolate chips and walnuts.

  6. Chill (important!)
Chill dough for at least 1 hour for thicker, better cookies.

  7. Bake
Scoop dough (about 2 tbsp each) onto a lined baking sheet.
Bake at 300°F (150°C) for 18–20 minutes until pale golden.

  8. Cool
Let cool on the pan for a few minutes—they firm up as they sit.

Pro tips

  • Low temp = chewy centers. Don’t crank the oven.

  • Espresso powder doesn’t make them taste like coffee—it just deepens the chocolate.

  • Sprinkle a little flaky salt on top before baking if you want bakery vibes.

If you want the copycat mall-style version, no-nut, or extra-thick bakery cookies, say the word.
