Crockpot Beef & Gravy

Here’s a go-to slow cooker beef recipe that’s cozy, flexible, and basically foolproof.

Crockpot Beef & Gravy

Ingredients

  • 2–3 lb beef chuck roast

  • 1 packet onion soup mix

  • 1 packet brown gravy mix

  • 1 cup beef broth

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • Optional: sliced onions, mushrooms, or carrots

Instructions

  1. Prep the beef

    • Place the chuck roast in the crockpot.

    • Sprinkle onion soup mix, gravy mix, garlic powder, and pepper over the meat.

  2. Add liquid

    • Pour beef broth and Worcestershire sauce around (not directly on top if you want max flavor on the meat).

  3. Slow cook

    • Cover and cook:

      • Low: 8–9 hours

      • High: 4–5 hours

    • Beef should be fall-apart tender.

  4. Shred & serve

    • Shred the beef in the crockpot and stir into the gravy.

    • Serve over mashed potatoes, rice, egg noodles, or on toasted rolls.

Easy upgrades

  • Add 1 packet ranch seasoning for Mississippi-style vibes

  • Toss in baby potatoes for a one-pot meal

  • Stir in ½ cup sour cream at the end for creamy beef gravy
