  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (sharp is best)

  • 2 tbsp melted butter

  • Optional: pinch of garlic powder

Sausage Filling

  • 1 lb breakfast sausage (pork or turkey)

  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour

  • ¾–1 cup milk

  • Salt & black pepper to taste

Instructions

1. Cook the sausage

  1. Brown sausage in a skillet over medium heat, breaking it up.

  2. Sprinkle flour over the cooked sausage, stir, and cook 1 minute.

  3. Slowly pour in milk, stirring until thick and creamy.

  4. Season with salt and lots of black pepper.

  5. Remove from heat.

2. Prep the biscuits

  1. Split each biscuit horizontally.

  2. Place bottoms on a baking sheet.

  3. Sprinkle a little cheddar on each bottom.

3. Assemble

  1. Spoon sausage mixture onto each biscuit bottom.

  2. Add more cheddar on top of sausage.

  3. Place biscuit tops on.

  4. Brush tops with melted butter (add garlic powder if using).

4. Bake

  • Bake at 375°F / 190°C for 15–18 minutes

  • Until biscuits are golden and cheese is bubbly

🔥 Pro Tips

  • Use thick sausage gravy, not runny, so it stays stacked

  • Sharp cheddar melts best and gives that golden top

  • Let them rest 5 minutes — they firm up perfectly

🔁 Variations

  • Spicy: hot sausage + pepper jack

  • Southern: add a fried egg layer

  • Sweet & savory: drizzle honey on the biscuit tops

  • Make-ahead: assemble, refrigerate, bake next morning

If you want:

  • homemade biscuit dough

  • a slider-sized party version

  • air fryer method

just say the word 😌🥪
