Cheesy Baked Meatballs in Cream Sauce

Ingredients

Meatballs

  • 1 lb ground beef (or beef & pork mix)

  • ½ cup breadcrumbs

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tbsp milk

  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

Creamy Sauce

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour

  • 1½ cups milk (or half-and-half)

  • ½ cup chicken broth

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

  • Salt & pepper to taste

Topping

  • ½–1 cup shredded mozzarella

  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley


Instructions

1. Make the meatballs

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. In a bowl mix:

    • ground beef

    • breadcrumbs

    • Parmesan

    • egg

    • garlic

    • milk

    • Italian seasoning

    • salt and pepper.

  3. Form golf-ball sized meatballs (about 8–10).

2. Brown the meatballs

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat.

  • Sear meatballs for 3–4 minutes per side until browned (they don’t need to be fully cooked).

3. Make the sauce

  1. In the same pan melt butter.

  2. Whisk in flour and cook 1 minute.

  3. Slowly whisk in milk and broth.

  4. Cook until sauce thickens.

  5. Stir in:

    • mozzarella

    • Parmesan

    • garlic powder

    • salt & pepper.

4. Assemble

  • Place meatballs in a baking dish.

  • Pour sauce over them.

  • Sprinkle extra mozzarella cheese on top.

5. Bake

  • Bake 20–25 minutes until meatballs are cooked and cheese is melted and bubbly.

6. Garnish

  • Sprinkle fresh parsley before serving.
