Ingredients

For the patties

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef

  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 1 tbsp ketchup (optional for flavor)

For the creamy cheese sauce

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour

  • 1 1/2 cups milk

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Topping

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese

  • Fresh parsley (optional)


Instructions

1. Prepare the beef patties

  1. In a large bowl mix:

    • ground beef

    • breadcrumbs

    • egg

    • milk

    • onion

    • garlic

    • salt, pepper, paprika, ketchup

  2. Mix until combined.

  3. Form 8 thick patties.


2. Brown the patties

  1. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat.

  2. Cook patties 2–3 minutes per side until browned (not fully cooked).

  3. Place them in a baking dish.


3. Make the cheese sauce

  1. Melt butter in a saucepan.

  2. Add flour and whisk for 1 minute.

  3. Slowly add milk while whisking.

  4. Cook until thick.

  5. Stir in cheddar cheese, salt, and pepper until smooth.


4. Assemble

  1. Pour the cheese sauce over the patties.

  2. Sprinkle mozzarella or cheddar on top.


5. Bake

  • Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20–25 minutes

  • Cheese should be melted and bubbly.


6. Garnish

  • Sprinkle with parsley before serving.
