Black Licorice Dessert (Licorice Cream Tart)

Ingredients

Crust

  • 1½ cups chocolate cookie crumbs

  • 5 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

  • 2 tbsp sugar

Filling

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened

  • ½ cup powdered sugar

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream

  • ½ tsp anise extract (gives the licorice flavor)

  • Black food coloring (optional for deep black color)

Topping

  • ½ cup whipped cream

  • ¼ cup black licorice candies, chopped

  • Optional: chocolate curls or crushed cookies


Instructions

1. Make the crust

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Mix cookie crumbs, melted butter, and sugar.

  3. Press mixture firmly into a 9-inch tart pan.

  4. Bake for 8–10 minutes, then cool completely.


2. Prepare the filling

  1. Beat cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.

  2. Add vanilla extract and anise extract.

  3. In a separate bowl, whip heavy cream until stiff peaks form.

  4. Fold whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture.

  5. Add a few drops of black food coloring if you want the dramatic black look.


3. Assemble

  1. Spread filling evenly into the cooled crust.

  2. Refrigerate for 3–4 hours until firm.


4. Garnish

  • Top with whipped cream swirls.

  • Sprinkle chopped black licorice candy or chocolate shavings.
