Ingredients

  • 1 lb breakfast sausage (pork or turkey)

  • 1 can (16 oz) refrigerated biscuits, quartered

  • 4 tbsp all-purpose flour

  • 3 cups whole milk

  • 1 tsp black pepper (more to taste)

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

  • Salt to taste

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional but 🔥)

Optional add-ins:

  • Scrambled eggs

  • Crumbled bacon

  • Red pepper flakes


Instructions

1. Cook the sausage

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

  • Brown sausage in a skillet over medium heat, breaking it up.

  • Do not drain all the fat (leave ~2 tbsp).


2. Make the gravy

  • Sprinkle flour over sausage; stir and cook 1 minute.

  • Slowly whisk in milk.

  • Add pepper and garlic powder.

  • Simmer until thick and creamy (3–5 minutes).

  • Taste and adjust salt.


3. Assemble

  • Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

  • Add biscuit pieces evenly.

  • Pour sausage gravy over biscuits.

  • Sprinkle cheese on top if using.


4. Bake

  • Bake uncovered 30–35 minutes until biscuits are cooked through and top is golden.

  • If browning too fast, loosely cover with foil.


Serve With

  • Fresh fruit 🍓

  • Hot sauce on the side
