🥩 Tender Slow-Cooked Beef Roast with Gravy
Ingredients

1–1.5 kg (2–3 lb) beef chuck roast or rump roast

2 tbsp oil

1 onion — sliced

4 garlic cloves — minced

2 cups beef broth
-
2 tbsp soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce

1 tbsp tomato paste
-
1 tsp black pepper
-
1½ tsp salt
-
1 tsp paprika
-
1 tsp dried thyme or rosemary
-
1 tbsp butter (optional for rich gravy)

2 tbsp flour or cornstarch (for thickening)
👩🍳 Instructions
1️⃣ Sear the Beef

Heat oil in heavy pot or pan.

Season beef with salt & pepper.

Sear all sides until browned (3–4 minutes each side).
2️⃣ Build the Sauce

Remove beef → cook onion & garlic in same pot.

Add tomato paste, paprika, thyme.

Pour in beef broth & soy/Worcestershire — scrape browned bits.
3️⃣ Slow Cook

Return beef to pot, cover, and cook on low heat 2½–3 hours
OR bake covered at 160°C (325°F) until fork-tender.
4️⃣ Make Gravy

Remove beef and slice.

Mix flour/cornstarch with water → stir into sauce.

Simmer until thick, add butter for glossy finish.
