Fall-apart tender, smoky-sweet, and basically does all the work while you live your life.

Ingredients (serves 6–8)

  • 3–4 lb beef brisket (flat or point)

  • 1½ cups BBQ sauce (use your favorite)

  • ½ cup beef broth or water

  • 1 onion, sliced

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

  • 2 tsp smoked paprika

  • 1 tsp chili powder

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • Optional: 1 tsp liquid smoke (a little goes a long way)

Instructions

  1. Season the brisket
Pat dry. Rub with salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and chili powder.

  2. Layer the slow cooker
Add sliced onions to the bottom. Place brisket on top, fat side up if it has one.

  3. Mix the sauce
In a bowl, whisk BBQ sauce, broth, brown sugar, Worcestershire, vinegar, garlic, and liquid smoke (if using).

  4. Cook low & slow
Pour sauce over brisket. Cover and cook:

    • LOW: 8–10 hours

    • HIGH: 5–6 hours
      Until fork-tender.

  5. Shred or slice
Remove brisket. Let rest 10 minutes, then shred or slice against the grain.

  6. Finish it right
Skim excess fat from sauce. Return brisket to slow cooker and toss in sauce.

Optional (But Delicious) Finish

  • Broil brisket on a sheet pan with extra BBQ sauce for 5–8 minutes to get caramelized edges 🔥

How to Serve

  • Piled onto buns for BBQ sandwiches

  • With mac & cheese, coleslaw, or cornbread

  • Over mashed potatoes (underrated, trust me)

If you want a Texas-style, sweet & sticky, or no-sauce dry-rub version, say the word—I’ve got you.
