🥬 Crispy Cabbage & Egg Fritters

A simple, budget-friendly recipe made with shredded cabbage and eggs. These fritters are crispy outside, soft inside, and perfect for breakfast, snacks, or a light meal. 🥗🍳

⏱ Time

  • Prep: 10 minutes

  • Cook: 15 minutes

  • Servings: 3–4

🛒 Ingredients

  • 3 cups cabbage, finely shredded

  • 3 large eggs

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour

  • ½ small onion, finely chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tbsp chopped green onions or parsley

  • ½ tsp salt (or to taste)

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • ½ tsp paprika (optional)

  • ¼ tsp baking powder (optional, for fluffier fritters)

  • 3–4 tbsp vegetable oil for frying

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Prepare the cabbage

Place shredded cabbage in a large bowl. If it feels very firm, lightly squeeze it with your hands for about 1 minute to soften.

2️⃣ Mix the batter

Add to the cabbage:

  • Eggs

  • Flour

  • Onion

  • Garlic

  • Green onions

  • Salt, pepper, and paprika

  • Baking powder (optional)

Mix everything well until the cabbage is evenly coated and forms a thick mixture.

3️⃣ Shape the fritters

Take about 2–3 tablespoons of mixture and shape into small oval patties or logs using your hands.

4️⃣ Cook

Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
Place the fritters in the pan and cook 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.

5️⃣ Drain & serve

Remove and place on paper towels to absorb excess oil.

Serve warm with:

  • Sour cream

  • Garlic yogurt sauce

  • Ketchup or chili sauce

Tips

  • Add grated carrot or zucchini for extra flavor.

  • Sprinkle cheese into the mixture for richer fritters.

  • Bake at 375°F (190°C) for about 20–25 minutes if you prefer a healthier version.
