Here’s a crispy homemade finger fish recipe that’s easy and hits every time.

Ingredients

  • 500 g white fish fillets (hake, cod, tilapia, or dory)

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko = extra crunch)

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • ½ tsp paprika

  • ½ tsp garlic powder (optional)

  • Oil for frying


Instructions

  1. Prep the fish
    Cut fish into finger-sized strips. Pat dry with paper towel.

  2. Season the flour
    Mix flour, salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder in a bowl.

  3. Set up coating station

    • Bowl 1: seasoned flour

    • Bowl 2: beaten eggs

    • Bowl 3: breadcrumbs

  4. Coat the fish
    Dip each piece into flour → egg → breadcrumbs. Press crumbs in gently.

  5. Fry
    Heat oil over medium heat. Fry fish fingers 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.

  6. Drain & serve
    Remove and drain on paper towels.


Serve with

  • French fries or wedges 🍟

  • Tartar sauce, ketchup, or garlic mayo

  • Lemon wedges for a fresh squeeze 🍋


Oven or Air Fryer Option

  • Oven: Bake at 200°C (400°F) for 15–18 mins, flip halfway

  • Air fryer: 180°C (360°F) for 10–12 mins
