Crispy Fried Mushrooms with Sweet Chili Sauce
🍄 Ingredients
For the mushrooms

500 g fresh mushrooms (button or cremini)

1 cup all-purpose flour

½ cup cornstarch
-
1 tsp garlic powder
-
1 tsp onion powder
-
½ tsp paprika
-
½ tsp black pepper
-
1 tsp salt
Wet batter
-
1 cup cold water or milk
-
1 egg
For frying
-
Oil for deep frying (vegetable or canola)
Sauce
-
½ cup sweet chili sauce
-
1 tbsp honey (optional)
-
1 tsp soy sauce
👨🍳 Instructions
1. Prepare the mushrooms

Wash mushrooms quickly and pat dry with paper towel.

If large, cut them into halves or quarters.
2. Make the batter

In a bowl mix:

flour
-
cornstarch
-
garlic powder
-
onion powder
-
paprika
-
salt and pepper

In another bowl whisk egg + cold water.

Combine wet mixture with dry mixture to make a thick batter.
3. Coat the mushrooms
-
Dip mushrooms into the batter.

Make sure each piece is fully coated.
4. Fry
-
Heat oil to 175°C / 350°F.

Fry mushrooms in batches for 3–4 minutes until golden and crispy.

Remove and place on paper towels.
5. Add sauce
-
Drizzle sweet chili sauce over the mushrooms or serve on the side for dipping.
