Step 1: Prep

Preheat oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C).

Line a 12-cup muffin pan with cupcake liners.
Step 2: Dry Ingredients
In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
Step 3: Cream Butter & Sugar
In a large bowl, beat butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 3β4 minutes).
Step 4: Add Eggs & Vanilla
Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Stir in vanilla extract.
Step 5: Combine
Add dry ingredients in batches, alternating with buttermilk. Mix until just combined.
Fold in butterscotch chips and butterscotch sauce (if using).
Step 6: Bake
