🍎 Apple Yogurt Custard Cake

🛒 Ingredients

Batter

  • 3 medium apples (thinly sliced)

  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt (or plain yogurt)

  • ½ cup granulated sugar

  • 2 large eggs

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • ½ tsp cinnamon

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • Pinch of salt

Topping

  • 1 tbsp brown sugar

  • ¼ tsp cinnamon

  • ¼ cup chopped walnuts or almonds

  • 1 tbsp melted butter (optional)

🥣 Instructions

1️⃣ Prep

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  • Grease and line an 8-inch round cake pan.

2️⃣ Mix Batter

  1. In a bowl, whisk eggs and sugar until slightly pale.

  2. Add yogurt and vanilla. Mix smooth.

  3. Stir in flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.

  4. Mix until just combined.

3️⃣ Add Apples

  • Peel apples (optional but recommended).

  • Slice very thinly.

  • Fold slices gently into batter until fully coated.

The batter will look heavy on apples — that’s correct.

4️⃣ Bake

  1. Pour mixture into pan and smooth top.

  2. Sprinkle with brown sugar, cinnamon, and nuts.

  3. Drizzle melted butter on top (optional).

  4. Bake 40–50 minutes until golden and center is set but slightly soft.

5️⃣ Cool

Let cool at least 30 minutes before slicing.
It firms up more as it cools.

🍰 Texture

  • Inside: soft, custardy, almost cheesecake-like

  • Top: slightly caramelized and nutty

  • Not fluffy like regular cake — more dense and creamy

💡 Tips

  • Use sweet apples (Honeycrisp, Fuji, Gala).

  • Chill before serving for cleaner slices.

  • Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

  • Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
