🍯 Honey Garlic Chicken (Crispy & Sticky)

🛒 Ingredients

For the Chicken:

  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs (or breasts), cut into chunks

  • ½ cup cornstarch

  • 2 eggs, beaten

  • Salt & pepper to taste

  • Oil for frying

For the Honey Garlic Sauce:

  • ½ cup honey

  • ⅓ cup soy sauce

  • 4–5 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)

  • 1 tablespoon ketchup (optional, for depth)

  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch + 2 tablespoons water (slurry)

Optional garnish:

  • Sesame seeds

  • Chopped green onions

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Prep & Coat

  1. Season chicken with salt and pepper.

  2. Dip each piece in beaten eggs.

  3. Coat in cornstarch, pressing lightly so it sticks.

2️⃣ Fry

  1. Heat oil in a skillet (about 1 inch deep) over medium-high heat.

  2. Fry chicken 4–5 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through (internal temp 165°F).

  3. Remove and drain on paper towels.

(For extra crispy chicken, fry once, rest 5 minutes, then fry again for 1–2 minutes.)

3️⃣ Make the Sauce

  1. In a saucepan, combine honey, soy sauce, garlic, vinegar, ketchup, and sesame oil.

  2. Simmer 2–3 minutes.

  3. Stir in cornstarch slurry and cook until thickened (about 1–2 minutes).

4️⃣ Toss & Serve

Add crispy chicken to the sauce and toss until fully coated and glossy.

Sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions.

🍚 Serve With:

  • Steamed white rice

  • Fried rice

  • Stir-fried vegetables

  • Noodles

🔥 Lighter Option (No Frying)

Bake at 400°F for 20–25 minutes or air fry at 380°F for 14–16 minutes, flipping halfway.

If you’d like, I can also give you a slow cooker version or a spicy honey garlic variation.
